I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know will be all right
Perhaps it's just imagination
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Alone between the sheets
Only brings exasperation
It's time to walk the streets
Smell the desperation
At least there's pretty lights
And though there's little variation
It nullifies the night
From overkill
Nothing says "Australia" more than a classic Men at Work song (at least to an American), am I right? "Down Under" would have been the most obvious choice, but this song is actually my favorite - and the lyrics are so me right now, struggling a bit with anxiety.
Besides listening to music (and yoga, and snuggles when available), I love comedy to cure what ails me. Watching Scrubs reruns on Netflix has been a great panacea from time to time, late at night when I want silly but also sorda melancholy. Not coincidentally, Colin Hay guest starred in an episode of Scrubs, it's second season premier, singing this version of this song. Some clever YouTuber put the clips together for our viewing pleasure. Here's to us all getting through the week ahead any way we can, and my apologies for the Australia-reference-overkill, especially since they're probably not over.
