Crystal Castles - Char

| Kerri
I'm afraid they're gonna find you
And there's nothing that I can do
A century of your priceless time
To commit a victimless crime
Vow to caress your rashes
Vow to punish with lashes
You can hide inside my locket
Put a leash on when they walk you
Next year say you didn't want to
Do they chastise you when you stray
Sallow skin and they can't look away
Start a collection of brine
Because all you do is cry
Wood ticks whisper to console you

We've seen and heard a bit about weekend one from ACL and that info has gotten us particularly excited about a few acts, including Canadian electropop duo Crystal Castles tomorrow afternoon. Last year I posted an oldie from the group, today's MIS is from their latest album, Amnesty.

Walk the Moon - One Foot

| Kerri

Not a soul up ahead and nothing behind
There's a desert in my blood and a storm in your eyes
Am I the king of nothing at all?
And you're the queen of nothing at all
But I remember the fight and I forget the pain
I got my hand in your pocket and my key in your chain
Am I the king of nothing at all?
And you're the queen of nothing at all

Oh, through the wilderness
You and I will walk into the emptiness
Oh, and my heart is a mess
Is it the only defense against the wilderness?

"All we have is each other, one foot in front of the other." Is this a love song or a fatalistic one? Well, it's definitely a WTM song - whatever the lyrics the mood is: Slightly 80s, Pumped & Ready to Dance. Someone asked me just the other day if I thought this band was going to fade into oblivion after the mega success of "Shut Up and Dance" which was a sad suggestion to me, as that's nowhere near my favorite song of theirs. So, I'm happy they have a new single and it's already doing well on the indie charts. The world needs more of this music -  supplying the feeling of being happy in the moment & having each other's back.

Midnight Faces - Devils Money

| Kerri
Only so many ways I can say
You always keep me from where I'm going
Only so many things I can change
Obvious difference is you're not going

I'm really excited about this Discover Weekly find. Midnight Faces remind me (musically) of The Cure but with a less screechy/effeminate vocalist (no offense to dear Robert Smith). Definite 80s post-punk synth pop-rock vibe. They have a very modern formation: collaborating over the internet from disparate cities in the east/midwest, until they moved to L.A. (and added a drummer). "Devils Money" is their latest single, but I'm also loving 2016's album Heavenly Bodies, especially the tracks "Blue Haze" and "Sirens"
